We follow the biblical principles of church organization with Elders overseeing the congregation and Deacons serving under the leadership of the Elders (1 Timothy 3:1-13) We have multiple Ministers that evangelize from the pulpit and tend to a variety of needs for the congregation and community. Elders & Ministers
Ellis Lewis, Jr, is the pulpit minister and one of the elders at LPCOC. Ellis has been married to Contessa for 36 years. They have three children and three grandchildren. Ellis has been a member of the congregation for 47 years. In addition to being the minister and elder, Ellis is also involved in the Married Couples ministry, benevolence, and community outreach. With what little free time he has, Ellis enjoys watching sports and collecting hats.
Johnnie Stevenson is an elder at LPCOC and has been a member of the congregation for 41 years. He has been happily married to Mary Lou for 47 years, and have two children and four grandchildren. The couple love, love, love cruising. Johnnie, once an avid sportsman, now enjoys watching a variety sports and keeps his play time on the domino table. Johnnie is definitely a “people” person evidenced in his reason for loving LPCOC so much, “It’s the people”.
Ellis Lewis, Sr. is our Minister Emeritus and Elder.
He and his wife, Verna, have served at our congregation for 52 years, and Ellis was the minister for 43 of those years. Their marriage of 60 years produced fruit of three sons, ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Ellis enjoys spending time on the computer, reading, and playing dominoes. He has enjoyed all of his years of service at LPCOC due to the friendliness, love, and warmth of the members.
Don Wallace , assistant minister, was married to Edna for 41 years before she passed. Together they have six children, 14 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. Don serves LPCOC as an assistant minister who has made service to the congregation his full-time job. Don provides transportation to members in need, he runs the food bank, and stays in touch with all the sick, shut-in, and absent members. In the rare event that you cannot find Don at the building he may be listening to music, watching a movie or attending live theater. He also enjoys traveling, visiting his family, and playing games.
Joe Fletcher, Sr, deacon of fellowship, greets everyone with a warm smile, a hand shake, and an opportunity to serve. As deacon of fellowship Bro. Fletcher enjoys coordinating the church fellowships and calling on the members to help. Joe has been married to Betty for 61 years and they have been members at LPCOC for 53 years. The couple have five children, eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. When they are not at the church building Joe enjoys traveling, cooking BBQ, entertaining visitors, and enjoying the grandchildren. What Joe enjoys most about LPCOC is the family of Christians that worship and fellowship together, and the gospel message that is preached every Sunday.
Nathaniel Green has been married for 60 years to the love of his life, Cora. They have four children, fourteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. They have been committed members at LPCOC for 28 years. Nate’s one and only hobby is playing dominoes. Other things he enjoys, but not as much as dominoes, is driving and shopping with Cora. Nate is a member at LPCOC because the preaching is sound, the worship service is uplifting, and the fellowship is Christ centered. Bro. Green’s deacon responsibilities include: building maintenance and assistant treasurer.
Michael Harris, Sr, deacon of worship, has been married to Wendy for 31 years. They have 4 children and three grandchildren. The Harris’ enjoy walks, movies, travelling, and babysitting their grandchildren. Michael also loves working out at the gym with friends and fellow Christians. Since being a member at LPCOC for the past 16 years, Michael is most pleased with the family atmosphere he has always felt from his very first visit to the church. He is committed due to the congregation’s commitment to family, and Bible based studies.
David Lewis, Sr, a deacon, wears many hats at LPCOC including teaching, preaching, personal work, song leading, mentoring, and helping the members. David has been married to Phyllis for 34 years and they have three children, and one grandchild. David has been a member at LPCOC for 47 years. He enjoys reading novels, creative writing, studying the Bible, watching sports, and old movies. David loves LPCOC for the support and camaraderie he receives from the members, the many opportunities to fellowship, and the sincerity of the members.
Ernest Lewis, deacon of administration, has been married to his childhood sweetheart, Marcia, for 32 years. They have four children and a dog. During his 47 years as a member at LPCOC Ernie has held many positions. Currently, Ernie is the choir director, the Young Adult Teacher and Group Mentor, and church administrator. Ernie’s hobbies include: racquetball, golf, reading, and traveling. Ernie feels extremely blessed to be a member at LPCOC where members are seriously committed to the Lord and to each other.
Cleveland Miller, has been married to Willie Mae for 60 years. They have two daughters and three grandchildren. This couple has been committed to LPCOC for 46 years. Whatever is happening, they are there to fellowship with and love on all the members. As a deacon, Cleveland does whatever he is called on to do. In his free time, Cleveland enjoys watching television, especially sports, and playing dominoes.
Jose Yarbrough, deacon of education, has been married to Valerie for 19 years. They have three children, and have been members at LPCOC for 27 years. Jose’s hobbies include: digital art and photography. The love and fellowship among the members is what this couple enjoys most about LPCOC. Jose added he is also impressed with, “the commitment to understanding and applying the principles of the Bible”.
Micheal Marcey has been married to Adrienne for 40 years. They have four children, and one grandchild. The Marcey’s have been members at LPCOC for 30 years. Micheal, a retired police officer, serves the congregation as deacon of security. Micheal enjoys fellowshipping with his church family, and taking his boat out for deep sea fishing at every opportunity.
